About Buckinghamshire Adult Learning

About Us

At Buckinghamshire Adult Learning we provide inclusive learning opportunities to promote wellbeing and inspire people living or working in Buckinghamshire to achieve their potential.

With over 1,500 courses to choose from there is something to suit everyone, from all ages, walks of life and abilities. Whether you’re a beginner or want to improve your skills, gain a long desired qualification or just fancy trying a new hobby we’ve got a course for you.

We are the main provider of part-time learning opportunities for adults in Buckinghamshire, graded ‘good’ by Ofsted in May 2024. A broad programme of taught courses, workshops and online learning is delivered from almost 140 locations across the county including dedicated Adult Learning centres, schools, community and employer premises.

We provide courses for individuals in all aspects of life, work and leisure. This includes literacy, numeracy, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), creative studies, ICT, health and fitness, languages, home improvements and gardening. Courses are available daytime, evening and weekends for most of the year.

If you are not sure which is the right course or level for you, or if you have any questions about our courses, come and talk to us face to face at a centre near you or call us on 01296 382403.

Bespoke Courses

We can organise and tailor a short course to suit your needs which would allow you to learn in a relaxed and fun way with family and friends.

If you have at least five participants and we have one of our qualified specialist tutors available; a short one day Saturday workshop can be arranged for you at one of our Adult Learning Centres.

Maybe you would like to learn how to make a piece of silver jewellery, give a relaxing back massage, make a seasonal floral display or door wreath, learn how to draw and paint or learn the fundamentals of The Alexander Technique, the world is your oyster!

Prices for bespoke courses are variable and are dependent on the topic, number of participants and duration.

For more information please contact Cathy Colsell at cathy.colsell@buckinghamshire.gov.uk or call her on 07730 672402.

Feedback from bespoke course, Floristry – Spring and Summer Flowers

What a fabulous way to spend a day!  Our tutor knew so much about her subject and had a warm and welcoming manner, putting everyone instantly at ease. To do a creative course with a group of friends was both informative and entertaining – we gained new skills and a shared experience which we look back on with many happy memories.
