Local MP visits Open Day at Quarrendon Adult Learning Centre, Aylesbury

Buckinghamshire Adult Learning held a successful open day at its centre in Quarrendon, Aylesbury on Friday 3 September.
Visitors included Rob Butler MP, Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Anders Christensen, Cllr Sherrilyn Bateman, Cllr Alan Sherwell and representatives from Jobcentreplus, Bucks Healthcare Buckinghamshire Mind, Building Futures, Buckinghamshire Family Information Service, Buckinghamshire & Surrey Trading Standards, The Space Project, P3 Buckinghamshire Housing Support and Aylesbury Youth Action.
They were given a tour of the centre and met the Principal of Adult Learning, Jacqueline Wilson, tutors, staff and current learners. MP Rob Butler met former learner Colin, who explained his journey from unemployment to full-time work and the benefits he has received from studying with Buckinghamshire Adult Learning.
Staff gave presentations on the wide range of courses on offer, including:
- Free digital drop-in sessions in the spacious IT classroom, equipped with new PCs and Chromebooks
- Fully funded, flexible, online distance learning courses on subjects including Understanding Autism, Mental Health Awareness and Principles of Business Administration
- “Learning For All” courses for adults with learning disabilities
- Free English and maths courses including GCSEs
- English for Speakers of Other Languages courses
- Family Learning and Learning for Personal Development courses.
