Buckinghamshire Adult Learning delivered a new course, through an exciting new partnership with The Bagnall Project, Chesham in July 2021.
The New Horizons course was developed for a group of learners who had just completed a community English class.
New Horizons incorporates basic English, maths and IT, and allows the learners to utilise these skills in their everyday life situations. Through discussion work, one-to-one support and with the use of Chromebooks, the learners were able to set up a Gmail account, if they didn’t already have one, and learn the skills to complete everyday tasks such as; composing a simple email, writing a letter, identifying adjectives on a menu and splitting a bill.
Following on from this course, the learners will progress onto an 18-week Foundation Digital Skills course, starting in September, which will strengthen the skills they have already learnt and start to utilise in everyday situations.
