Buckinghamshire Adult Learning recently teamed up with Wycombe Wanderers Sports and Education Trust to provide a six-week Woodworking Skills course for people with mental health problems, as part of their ‘Keep Moving Forward’ Project.
The project helped members to learn a new skill, meet new people and provide them with an activity to focus their minds as a form of mindfulness, as well as walking away with a sense of achievement, having made a new piece of furniture.
WWSET Head of Health, Sam White said, ‘It was a lovely course and we had such positive feedback about it. I think we would most certainly like to do more courses in the future. Thank you for putting the course together it was great!’
A big thank you goes to our tutor Philip Francis, who thoroughly enjoyed teaching and supporting the learners. We would also like to thank Axminster Tools and Machinery, Wickes in High Wycombe and Workaid in Chesham for donating woodworking tools and course materials.
